Honda Civic Estate 1998-
  • Economy

    Value

    2 out of 5 2.0

Legendary reliability and build quality and reasonable looks.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Never seems to need parts and standard intermediate service is 100 pounds. Full service and parts seem pricey.

  • On the road

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

I am actually selling it because it's a bit too dull and my 8 and 10 year old kids say it's too gloomy in the back (being all black interior with some smoked glass + no rear interior lights for them).

    Performance

    2 out of 5 2.0

Early version of Honda VTEC engine still gives good performance.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    1 out of 5 1.0

Worst thing to happen in 2 years is rear high brake light lost 1 of its 12 or so little lights.

    Image

    3 out of 5 3.0

Dull image, but this estate model improves the looks a lot.

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

Loud wind noise. Suspension a bit too harsh.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

No problems for me, but have heard that is easy to break into as no standard alarm and easy to break quarterlight rear window.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

Honda excellence and technology shines through, but car a bit dull. Honda Crawley (Sussex) dealer gets my 10 out of 10 vote though.
