  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

40+ dad who is relaxed about his driving.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Nice. Many prefer the sportbrake to the saloon.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes. Whilst I have children I see the need to be able to get their things into the vehicle as well as the shopping etc...

What are you likely to buy next?

Perhaps another sportbrake. It depends on what is available in the market.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £29,000

When did you buy the car?

    September 2014

Did you get a good deal and why?

I ran a campaign. 5 dealers within 100 miles. I scored them. It wasn't about the best price, it was about the best experience.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    I needed to replace 2 vehicles. A Porsche Cayman & a Nissan Navara. Sporty/premium + practical/space. The Jag fitted.

    What was the dealer like?

Very good. They also had an Aston Franchise, which may have meant they had a better understanding of a demanding customer.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Great drive. Some lag if you want to "kick it" hard. But I went for the 2.2D to slow me down and have a relaxed drive. At that - it's perfect.

    What's it like to park?

Maybe a tiny bit long for many of the parking spots I frequent. Also the rear sensors scream out 10cm too soon! Another design flaw I see is the opening footprint of the tailgate. It should open within the footprint of the car. I know this is not simple engineering; but it's not difficult either.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Sometimes the back light on the dashboard is dim if the car is started in the daylight and it becomes dark. If the car is started in darkness I don't have the issue.

What's most practical about your car?

Space + electric tailgate (although I wished I could shut it within the car when dropping the kids off on a school run.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

SatNav is always expected on these premium vehicles. I imagine in the future we'll be replacing the electronics with a simple chromecast (or equiv) from our telephones. The Jag satnav is actually poorly designed. The soft buttons move about from their locations depending on functionality. This is very poor. You should not need to stare at a satnav screen to choose a function. Once learned it should be autonomous.
