  • Summary

    2 out of 5 2.0

What does this car say about you?

To the environmental lobby that I am a monster, but to other country dwellers that I am practical.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Some like it, some loathe it, many are scared off by running costs

Would you buy this car again and why?

No, it just is not reliable enough, nor of adequate quality, the dealership is inadequate in the premium sector it purports to occupy. Long waiting times for servicing or repair appointments and overall indifference, possibly as a consequence of now having a regional monopoply for the marque.

What are you likely to buy next?

Something from a manufacturer (likely Asian) that offers a 5, 7 or even 10 year warranty. A 10 year drivetrain warranty is not unusual in the US from the Asian manufacturers. Wake up UK!!

  • Buying experience

    4 out of 5 4.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £28,000

When did you buy the car?

    March 2006

Did you get a good deal and why?

Used DRIVE THE DEAL to establish a price as there would be no trade-in vehicle nor finance. I had bought a vehicle for my wife from the dealer so they knew I was serious, and so matched it.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Had enjoyed driving Jeeps in the USA and originally wanted a CHEROKEE for March 06, but the diesel then current was so awful that I decided to go for the new GRAND CHEROKEE

    What was the dealer like?

Back then (early 06), the dealer and the salesmen were first class. The salesman is still there but the dealership has declined appallingly since mid 06.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Usually assured, but the engine and drive faults mean there is a measure of 'what if it won't go?' when it comes to overtaking or hill work

    What's it like to park?

Easy with the rear parking sensor and good turning circle

  • Living with it

    1 out of 5 1.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Several things; underbody corrosion deemed 'commercially acceptable' by Jeep, door seals rubbing paintwork, engine/transmission faults and one injection return rail unsecured, causing massive fuel loss into the engine bay and underbody. Altogether too fragile for the offroad toughness it purports to have.

What's most practical about your car?

    Proper offroad ability

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

    Parking Sensor
