Kia Rio Hatchback (2017 - 2023) 3 1.0 T-GDi 99bhp ISG 5d Owner Review

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
In this universe of ours, one of the laws of physics is that the simpler something is, the better it works. I therefore can't understand Kia's thinking of complicating their clutch system which they call 'Intelligent'.
This system is extremely dangerous and extremely costly.
Let me tell you about my experience and then you can judge for yourselves.
At 23,600 Kilometers at 10 pm at night on a French motorway, my partner, on her way to Nice airport to pick me up stopped to pay the toll fee. She put the car in neutral and paid but when she tried to put the car in gear to leave, the gear stick would not engage in any gear. To cut it short, the car was recovered by the autoroute authority and put into a compound. The nearest main Kia dealers at Nice when we spoke to them the following day said they couldn't even look at it for 4 weeks!! As my partner lives in Italy and as we could get a much speedier service from the main Kia dealer in Italy we paid €1000 to transport the car.
Under the Kia warranty the car was repaired FOC in about a fortnight.
Everything was great after the repair until 3 months later at 30,000 Kilometers.
We had just disembarked a ferry at Genoa from Corsica where we had taken the car for a week s holiday. We got on the motorway A8 from Genoa to Ventimiglia. I was driving the car on this occasion and at one point I decided to put the car into 6th from 5th, as I tried to push the gear stick into 6th, nothing was happening, it was as if there was a gate stopping the gear stick slotting into gear. I tried going back into 5th but I was getting the same result. The car was slowing down without drive on a motorway in winding tunnels without any run off areas nor parking areas. In desperation I rammed the stick (at the point of breaking it or bending it) back into 5th and by some miracle it went in and the gear was selected. At this point I would like to say that I wonder if my partner or anyone else in that position would have managed to do the same or ended up coming to a halt in this dimly lit labyrinth of a tunnel with 20 ton plus lorries rushing past at 60 miles per hour!!!!.
To continue in brief we got the car problem repaired by Kia for the second time. I have tried to contact Kia Europe but their email does not function and I have also written a letter to Kia In Korea without so much as an acknowledbement.
I bought a Kia thinking it was a good car and NOT a potential expensive death trap.
I would advise anyone driving a Kia with one of their actuator clutches fitted to get rid of the car. This is exactly what I have done because it was impossible for me to continue driving such a dangerous car which breaks down without warning and leaving the driver and passengers very dangerous situations.
