In their own words

The Discovery 5 is still a good car but the Discovery 4 was a great car. The "5" has compromised load capacity with the new body shape and electric 2nd and 3rd row seats, the heater in my 10 year old bog basic Polo gets up to temperature far faster than the climate control on this one and the controls and menus are far too complex and dependent on outside factors, e.g. want to use Spotify, then you need to have the premium version, not the "freebie". The driving position is not quite as adaptable or comfortable as my "4" but still very good. In terms of driving it is certainly smoother than the "4" and certainly retains poor condition performance, 12" of unploughed snowy road, no problem whatsoever, even without resorting to the low ratio. Fuel consumption is a couple of mpg better on a mix of use and about 4 mpg better on a long motorway run, as long as you stay within the legal limit, drops rapidly above it. Overall a good car and retains the supreme driving position that you expect from a Disco. I did try a test in a Range Rover but didn't move up, not enough of a difference to warrant the upgrade cost, and that must speak for itself.

How reliable do you find the car?

The car is now so complex in the digital age that you can very easily disable functions without realising, e.g. lost access to the paddle change.
