Value
The best value used buy in its class.
Costs
Spares pricey and can be hard to find (Lotus has sold Elan rights to Kia). MPG good. Little point in expensive Lotus services if you intend to use/enjoy the car!

Breathtaking. Superb driving position and cornering you won't believe until you've tried it!
Performance
Excellent acceleration thanks to lightweight plastic body.

I've done 20,000 miles with NO electrical/mechanical problems beyond wear and tear (brake pads etc.)

Still looks gorgeous, especially with the roof down. When all's said and done, this is a LOTUS sportscar - not a girlie cabriolet :-)
Comfort
I chose Elan over Elise for added comfort. Still bum shaking/squeaky on many city roads - roof down you don't notice. On any open road it's amazing... Superb driving poisition, too.

Factory alarm - needed to add immobiliser to get insurance. Touch wood, no problem in five years - just use your common sense when using it!
Service
Service from SGT in Taplow has been top drawer - only expense deprives it of 5th star!
