Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

Many call this car The Hairdressers Car. Or the Mid Life Crises mobile. I dont care. This car suits all my needs. Style Shape with pop-up headlamps. Excellent engine. Good torque. Excellent drive & road holding. UK version drivers seat runs back further than Eunos version thus long legs fit better. Use Hardtop in winter. Keeps salt water out of rear inner wings & sills. Fun car. Spares are off the shelf as well as car kits/wheels etc. But insurance climbs if you do. Use Redex regularity in Fuel. REMEMBER ITS PETROL. I use Molyslip in engine & final drive unit but not Gearbox. Both additives help with less wear in those areas. Easier starting in all weathers & better economy even as a sportscar. Rust is a problem & always will be even if you garage it & keep it warm. Repairs are inevitable but not too expensive. Take it to a proper recommended MX-5 restorer body shop as they will know how to repair with the correct parts etc. Just look at MX5city.co.uk or MX5restorers.co.uk or Lightsuplightsdown on Youtube. Or finally Goodwoodsports.co.uk. The MX5ownersclub have a book about what to look out for if buying an MX5 . It is very usuful. It all depends on what you can afford or want, but you can restore the car. There are many cars out there of all versions & specification , clean or rustbuckets . It really is a lovely car to own. I recommend it completely but that is my opinion. Now its your turn to decied. Good Luck & ENJOY.

How reliable do you find the car?

Usual minor wear problems. Tyres /Brakes/Discs/Cambelt etc these must be done if you have no history on car. For peace of mind

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

My model is a 1.6 standard UK spec car. No power steering , No Aircon. No Electric windows. But as I see it. I wanted a car I can feel when I drive , a car that has to be worked by the driver & not have it worked for you. AIRCON why need it. You have a folding roof. Electric windows why have you no arms. Power Steering why, when you can really feel the road as you Drive. ABS none just stay further away from the car in front & use proper good tyres like Michelin/Goodyear etc that are excellent in wet/dry & harder wearing. I use CrossCimate.
