    I like cheap old cars?

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like it but think its a bit unsafe, mostly due to its size.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes 100%, but next time i would get electric windows and one with a turbo kit fitted. As much as the small issues annoy you its been great owning it and works well on the road and on the track as standard.

A cheap E36 328i for its out the box track readiness and 4 seats or someting with a 1.8/2.0 VAG turbo engine.

As a cheap, fun, run about to replace my grande punto abarth which i had to sell for a house deposit.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

The non-powered steering model is a bit strenous when parking but for steering feedback it feels really responsive and gives great feedback. The ride on mine is poor due to old shocks and springs but should improve once changed. The engine is a bit underpowered on the track but for everyday it has just the right amount of useable performance to have fun and appreciate it unlike some cars where you're above the speed limit before you have used 1/2 the rev range.

    What's it like to park?

Good visiblity unless the plastic back window is dirty (no wiper blade). No power steering, who needs the gym!

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Since owning the car i have had to replace the battery, thermostat and the rear shocks. The front brake calipers started binding so they also needed re greasing. No major problems all age related wear and tear.

What's most practical about your car?

There isn't much that is practical about an mx5 but with the spare tire removed from the boot it is more than enough for one or two peoples weekly shop plus with the roof down you can carry really tall stuff.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

My mx5 is a base spec model with no airbags, power steering, abs or electric windows and the stereo is an after maket unit that doesnt work properly.... So favourite gadget is probably the heater!
