Other Mercedes-Benz C-Class (2007 - 2014) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

I dread to think. Probably that I don't care what other people think...

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like it - comfortable to be in and they like the toys.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Possibly but if I need a wafting machine, it would probably be a Jaguar (I would have liked an XF but it was physically too big for my garage). They buying experience makes me hesitate as well.

What are you likely to buy next?

Something smaller to reflect a change in my parking arrangements!

  • Buying experience

    1 out of 5 1.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £0

When did you buy the car?

    May 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

Not particularly. It was Mercedes Benz Direct - sometimes it was more akin to the Arthur Daley school of sales. Spent most of their time telling me that they were not dishonest like the rest of the trade, they wanted to excel in customer dervice and so on. If they were that good, they wouldn't need to say any of that...

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

For long distance travel between the UK & France.

    What was the dealer like?

Transfixed on loading up the sale with extra services, mostly in the form of insurance products. The saleman had swallowed a cheap sales manual and all the questions were posed and leading. Desperatefor me to sign a paper saying I was completey satisfied with their service. etc. Tacky and hardly what you would expect from a "premium" dealer.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Effortless. It has a hesitancy to kick down at slower speeds - use the sport button in town - but once rolling has enough power for most. Unsettled on the option 18 inch rims on UK roads. Sublime on the Autoroute though.

    What's it like to park?

Quite easy - it's quite compact and relativley narrow. Front and rear parking sensors are helpful, if a bit loud.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

    No

What's most practical about your car?

Remote boot opening - as it's a saloon, practicality is relative.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Comand. Despite no full UK postcode search on the NAV, the system works well. Standard stereo good. DVD player a bonus!
