Although a long shot away from the original Mini, the new Mini Cooper 1.6 is great fun to drive.
Whilst not particularly fast, you always have a big smile on your face driving it - as long as the P/S pump doesn't fail on you, then you will be having a decent workout trying to drive it.
I would definitely drive another Mini Cooper, but I would have to go for a GP or JCW version.

Power steering pump failed thrice. Selector switch in gearbox failed.About their car
