    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

I base this on buying 4 years old - new gets 1.

    Costs

    5 out of 5 5.0

For a true sportscar, prices are good and with low demand scrapyard prices for low mileage writeoff parts are very good - £250 for a 20,000 mile gearbox - bargain.

  • On the road

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not in the same league as my previous Almera GTi - too much time spent trying to avoid going past its limits on muddy twisty back roads - no problem in the GTi - maybe wider tyres will help.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Straight line and post lag plus overtaking a joy, but turbo lag kills the fun - I wish there was a 3.0 alternative.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

Gearbox has jumped out of gear and is noisy - soon to be swapped - windscreen washer pump leaked - engine and everything else perfect.

    Image

    5 out of 5 5.0

The reason I bought this car was its aggresive sleek lines, which I love, and its rarity - it tends to be liked more than loathed and it's not a 3-Series, which has to be a bonus.

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

    It's a sportscar - if I wanted a soft ride I'd have bought a Merc.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

No hassle with alarm unlike a lot of others apparently. Yet to be tested so I don't know.

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

No good with 200SX gearboxes, but otherwise excellent with my last 2 Nissans.
