  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

If you are a young driver with £850 and you want something small, solid and reliable a '94 1.3 Micra is about the best place for your money

    Costs

    5 out of 5 5.0

Cheap to buy, cheap to service, cheap parts, doesn't go wrong very often and 100 miles on less than £8 of fuel

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Not as scintilating as a hot Fiesta, but still a small fun car you can enjoy on a quiet road. Doesn't have the grip of modern stuff though

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not exactly Ferrari pace, but as much as a sensible driver needs if they follow speed limits, especially in a small car which makes it feel that little bit faster. Quite capable of decent motorway speeds, but accelleration past 70 requires patience.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Almost faultless. In 10 years and 100,000 miles it has needed 1 new clutch and 1 new brake shoe (plus the usual sundries). Starts first time even on Sub-zero days after being left for a week. No small car of this age can do much better

Does have a good following with senior citizens, which doesn't give it the respect it deserves.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Remarkable for it's size and age. I drove it from Bristol to Blackpool and got out feeling like I could do it again. Not to be compared to a BMW, but closer than you might think

  • Security and Service

    Security

    1 out of 5 1.0

None to speak of, unless you have an optional alarm. If a determined thief wants to get in he will

    3 out of 5 3.0

    Serviced independantly
