What does this car say about you?

My eldest son is at Grammar School and this car says reasonably well off middle class family. I would love a Discovery or Range Rover but they do not make £ sense.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

    Fairly positive

Would you buy this car again and why?

Probably, it is a practical well equipped car with reasonable running costs. The list prices are a joke and the depreciation , especially in year 1 , epic. Buy a 12 month old model with under 10K on the clock with ideally about £10K off list

What are you likely to buy next?

    Another 4 - 5 years

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £13,000

When did you buy the car?

    February 2009

Did you get a good deal and why?

Nissan dealer in Glasgow. It was their demo, 12 months old 7500 miles and £1500 cheaper than anyone else. £35 on easyjet plus about 7 hours and c£50 in fuel

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Yes my old X Trail a 56 plate Adventura was in negative equity. I paid too much for it despite getting nearly £6K off list! Also we would have liked a 7 seater or a bigger boot.

    What was the dealer like?

Great until I signed the paperwork. The vehicle had not been checked correctly faulty oil warning light, no rear middle seatbelt useable, faulty sunroof, faulty replacement of windscreen meant auto wipers did not work. 5 trips to a local dealer and a bill of nearly £350 for the dealer. In fairness they did pay up without arguement. Typical of my experiences with many dealers, especially Nissan, poor quality. A little effort and attention to detail would go a long way

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Very easy to drive, precise steering , good gear change and the high position is excellent for visibility. Despite talk of the 150bhp being slow, I disagree put your foot down and it is ok. You will not feel the G force but is is good enough.

    What's it like to park?

It is a big car, especially lengthwise. The rear camera is pretty good. I cannot understand why they did not add a parking sensor for a few pounds extra.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

    SEE Above..........

What's most practical about your car?

Great space, especially the boot, it is enormous. Also living in the country the 4x4 is very useful. Seeing all of the 'eco-warriors' with their Citroen C1s sliding in the snow while you smugly drive past effortlessly is very pleasing.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Integrated sat nav and traffic is generally brilliant. My wife was saved from a 2 hour delay. You do have to be a little careful it can tell porkies.
