Perodua Nippa 1997
  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

I bought it second hand, it was just three years old with under 20K miles on the clock and it cost me less then £1,200. You can't beat that.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

It's a great low cost car offering over 50mpg and low tax and insurance. The short service intervals and general high servicing cost are higher than I expected. But as an overall package I'd recommend the Nippa, it offers first-class low cost motoring.

  • On the road

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

It's fun to drive, a bit like an old 850cc Mini. around town it's great with a surprising turn of speed.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Around town it's great with a surprising turn of speed. On the open road and the motorway it can keep up with the traffic and to be honest it still has pulling power to overtake even at speed.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Great, just keep up the servicing and it keeps going!

    Image

    5 out of 5 5.0

It has no image and that is great, it gives you a kind of beat the system feeling. Just cheap no frills motoring.

    Comfort

    2 out of 5 2.0

To anyone familiar with the old Mini they would fee right at home with the Nippa. It bounces and crashes its way along. But for such small car with a tiny wheelbase it is okay. The interior is a packaging marvel.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    2 out of 5 2.0

No comment, not very secure, but it is not exactly conspicuous!

    Service

    5 out of 5 5.0

Very good service from the Perodua dealer, but not cheap!
