• Summary

What does this car say about you?

Absolutely no idea. Friends who know my original intentions for the car probably think I'm too soft hearted now.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Family think it's ideal, although Dad still wants to turn it into a sand racer (we already have three everyday cars!). Friends don't like it as much 'cause I can only take four at a squeeze.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Definitely. I'm loving the million or so miles to the gallon and the ease of servicing (don't need a garage as long as you've got some screwdrivers, spanners, some WD and a hammer).

What are you likely to buy next?

An even more cheap and less cheerful car to convert to sand racer, my original intention for this one before I realised I liked it.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £180

When did you buy the car?

    October 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

    Brilliant. The car cost £180.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I was looking for something cheap (and didn't even have to be cheerful) to convert to my first sand racer. Once I'd bought it, I thought it was too good to trash (despite its bargain basement price).

    What was the dealer like?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Not quite as much fun as my Mini, but I was pleasantly surprised. If you attempt something too adventurous it rolls a bit, but the tyres give plenty of warning before they let go. The 847cc engine is a little gem and very rev happy. It surprises boy racers in their "fast" Saxo 1.4 off the lights up to around 40mph, but then gets a little breathless.

    What's it like to park?

A doddle. Quite a flat front so just keep going until you're sitting in the back seat of the car in front of you. Steering is much lighter than my un-power assisted Mini (probably due to the lighter front end).

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nope. Its a re-badged Daihatsu Mira (Japanese) so it will last longer than my house.

What's most practical about your car?

Can fit into the "small car" parking spaces introduced in Guernsey (solely for cars under 4m)

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Gadgets? You've got to be joking. Factory fitted sunroof is best option.
