• Summary

What does this car say about you?

Individual, I have always driven cars which others don't. I'll never be a Mondeo man....

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

The neighbours admire it very much. Friends get in and go wow to the JBL sound system and gadgets loaded in it. Petrol stations are great fun walking back to it from the kiosk and the doors slide open as you aproach using the key fob, people do marvel at it. People also are surprised to find I have a 1.6 with manual gearbox, not the flappy paddle 2-Tronic - but still a 1007 Sport... apparently some mid version from when Sport stopped and SE started.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No, I intend to keep this one... Anybody buying a 1007 not to keep for a long time needs their head looking at. The depreciation is massive, so only buy to keep. Take out GAP insurance too, if its written off the market price will have dropped.

What are you likely to buy next?

Hopefully finish restoring my classic Peugeot 504.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £7,995

When did you buy the car?

    November 2008

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes! 1007 doesn't hold its new value at all, so even at a dealer you can buy a pre-registered 1007 for many thousands less than list price. Mine came with all possible factory fitted extras.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Only 700 miles on the clock, and had every possible option factory fitted so I saved about £6000 off the list price new.

    What was the dealer like?

Smooth talking typical salesman, but there are so many for sale in Peugeot dealers so go by options and beat them down on price, travel for it and you will get a good deal.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Very refined around town, but quite stiff suspension. If you want to make it shift, then push it hard and it will respond. ABS and discs all round means it stops well too. Good visability as you sit up quite high. Perhaps it could be a bit more economical, but with 110bhp and its quite perky I don't mind.

    What's it like to park?

You get used to it. Parking sensors are a must. Sliding doors mean you dont suffer from usual door denting excercises.

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing mechanical. Only problems being parking sensors and fuel guage were not set up correctly on the onboard computer systems. The Blaupunkt CD multichanger isn't very good as it crackles with certain music, but doesnt happen on the single drive of the RT3.

What's most practical about your car?

Doors are great, you can be a show off and still lift in bags of shopping without putting them down to open the door! Driving position is great you sit up high like a small 4x4.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The RT3 onboard colour display, with sat nav, plus the factory fitted option of JBL Hifi with sub gives fantastic sound. Full glass roof is nice too.
