A good car for the money, but if you want gadgets go for the Xsi.

Stripped out Rallye car. No electrics to go wrong.

    Driving

    5 out of 5 5.0

Although not the most powerfull car I've owned, it's definately the most fun to drive. The engine is peach - very rev happy with a silky smooth gear change. Handing is very fluid.

    Performance

    1 out of 5 1.0

Engine revs comfortably to 7200rpm. A bit ordinary to start with but comes on cam at 5000rpm and blasts towards the redline. In gear times are very good considering only a 1.3 8v.

    Reliability

    1 out of 5 1.0

No problems so far but, due to low gearing and high reving engine, would recommend a good synthetic oil as the engine gets quite hot at motorway speeds.

Not as nice-looking as the series 2 Rallye, but very rare looks much nicer then an XSi. The Rallye has flared arches and Rallye decals and is fully colour coded (except wing mirrors).

    Comfort

    1 out of 5 1.0

Sports interior is nice and seats are excellent. No soundproofing though, so a lot of road/wind noise when cruising.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    None fitted.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

Keep an eye on oil/coolant levels - engine is stressed due to high revving nature.

    Other

Suspension feels tired. Hinges on doors.
