Value
Bought new for £8800., 187k miles later its not worth much, but it still goes well and returns 55mpg.
Costs
Parts can be expensive, new head @106k , then new fuel pump, alternator, 3 radiators, 3 lower suspension arms and 2 starter motors always use Michelin tyres, one pair on the rear lasted 68k.

Even for a diesel, it can be fun to drive.
Performance
What can you expect from a standard diesel , but it doesn't get left behind.

apart from blowing the head it has never let me down in 187k miles

See above, new head at 106k miles, + fuel pump, etc. spent £2000 within a few months, between 106 =108k miles, now on 187k.
