In their own words

At only just over 30,000 miles with full peugeot servicing I had to pull over in a dark country lane with STOP LOW OIL PRESSURE chimes and warnings. It was in Peugeot garage for 3 weeks. Reason that after I googled it found this engine has the timing belt in with the hot engine oil !!(BIO) which you can only check by taking oil filler cap off and can just see about a inch of the top part.It had degenerated at such a low mileage and the bits of belt drop into oil and block everywhere the oil goes and ends up blocking oil filter! Garage said it cost £1,603 to fix but although just out of warrantee Peugeot would honor the repair as it was a known problem. 3 weeks later it was ready but Peugeot changed mind and would not pay for repair. After lots of complaining they offered me just over £300 as goodwill gesture! Online there is forums stating that as Peugeot know about this ticking time bomb on 1 ltr engines they hope they will not leave owners with big repair bills.Obviously they do not care.So I have a car with no way knowing the future condition of a timing belt that failed at only 30,000 miles due to it being Inaccessible and no idea when it will destroy itself next. This needs a chain not a belt if it is going to last in hot oil.Peugeot 2008 allure 15 plate
