  • Summary

What does this car say about you?

My 306 says that I don't give a toss what you think about my car, yours may be faster but mine does a REAL 50+mpg.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They always have the lumping it option

Would you buy this car again and why?

I have recommended various diesel 306s to friends, family and colleagues and they all love their 306s. Mine has cost me just over £4000 in fuel to do 42000 miles. Servicing takes minutes and bits are easy to get and cheap. Cam belt changes are fiddly but cheap and straightforward once you've got to all the bolts that hold the belt cover on. The handling on all 306s in good shape is a joy.

What are you likely to buy next?

Another 306 diesel, maybe with a turbine next time, although mine has done 165,000 miles and drives faultlessly, is service every 6000 miles without fail and keeps getting better and better, so is unlikely to die anytime soon.

    What's it like to drive?

My car dispels the myth about the normally-aspirated diesels being slow. I have a bike-engined kit car so I know what fast is like. If the vehicle is carefully maintained and driven with mechanical sympathy it covers the ground at a surprising pace.

    What's it like to park?

Heavy non-assisted steering at parking speeds but I drive a lorry so I don't notice it, the other half isn't keen.

The reliability and great fuel economy
