  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

I need a car which is economical on fuel tax and insurance as I am close to retiring. This car does the job for me.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

My wife likes to drive it. We took it on holiday to Devon which is a 5 hour drive and had no problems with a boot full of luggage and 2 dogs in the back.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes for it's economy on fuel insurance and tax.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Maybe another one like this.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £4,500

When did you buy the car?

    April 2013

Did you get a good deal and why?

He was and still is a personal friend. He offered me the car at £500 less than its advertised price. It had done 95,000 miles but you wouldn't know when driving it.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Economy. I had a Mercedes ML275 Diesel which was expensive to run.

    What was the dealer like?

Very helpful. Gave me a good trade in price. Put no pressure on me.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Surprisingly quick off the mark for a diesel, or even a petrol driven car. Smooth when cruising on the motorway or open road. Doesn't sound like a diesel. It's nippy around town. In slow traffic I can't get it into 4th but tend to travel in 2nd or 3rd and the display tells me that is economical on fuel in those gears at that speed. The suspension is a little hard but not unduly.

    What's it like to park?

You need to become conscious of its dimensions. I have a narrow driveway and I scratched the side at the front at first but it only happened once as I became used to it.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Yes. The Battery gave up the ghost just after I bought it. I called out the RAC and they replaced the battery. Unfortunately he should have turned off the engine and left it for 5 minutes to allow the computer to close down before disconnecting the battery. The onboard computer needed to be reset so the remote locking would work. I could use the key in the conventional way but not remotely and the dashboard clock and other information systems did not work until the Peugeot dealer reset it.

What's most practical about your car?

Spacious boot, 4 doors and very good mileage to the gallon. Road Tax is only £30 per annum.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Dashboard display of radio stations and CD player. I have not got to grips yet with the radio/CD control on the steering column but it seems good to use and safe while driving. I like the device which tells you what miles to the gallon it is doing at any one time, or the average. I know this gadget is on other cars but I like it.
