    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

I paid £100 for mine. Can't really beat that by much! As for maintenance and upkeep, it's dirt cheap. Due to it's age, parts are easily available. Depreciation? Ha!

    Costs

    5 out of 5 5.0

Economical on fuel, so cheap to run, particularly around town. Especially if driven carefully, but not too bad if driven hard... Parts & servicing can be done cheap due to the age.

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Drives quite well - handles better than my Mum's Rover 600. Steering is precise, and even though there's no power steering, is not too heavy. A little roll and corners can be taken slightly faster than in the Rover. It's basically a slightly overgrown 205

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

It's a 1.3, so even though it's quite keen on the acceleration from standstill, it will take a while to reach 70. Don't expect much, but be pleasantly surprised as it does perform better than 1.4s I've driven...

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

Has never failed to start (even previous owner told me this...). However, at times it does take a couple of attempts. Not had any other problems yet, but when I flushed the radiator fluid, I couldn't bleed the air fully - car was still fine!

    Image

    1 out of 5 1.0

Umm... yeah. If you buy this car you certainly don't buy it for it's looks or image. The looks do grow on you a little though I don't impress anyone driving round in it. At the end of the day, it's a practical car, not pretty.(Big interior space though++)

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Good for short trips. Can fit 4 comfortably, 5 not so brilliantly. Not great on long trips (longest I've done is 200 miles in one stretch) but tolerable. No rest for left (clutch) foot though, pain.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Minus points first: Locks are not great, fairly easy to break. Plus Points: Difficult for driver to lock themselves outside car secure boot if seats are up steering lock vacuum sealed sunroof impossible to open from outsidewho'd want to break into it?

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

Did not get it serviced by this manufacturer, but by independant garage.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

No problems yet. Rattles a little, but that's a trait from this series of engine (Talbot 1.3l).

    Other

Needed a new driver's side wing mirror when I bought it. Cost: 20 pounds brand new. Time to replace: 5 minutes. Not bad! Speedo 'jiggles' +/-5mph actual speed. Another 309 trait. Greasing speedo cable should fix this. Passed MOT First time easily.
