Peugeot 405 Estate 1988
  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Good value at the time compared to all the other models.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Running cost quite cheap, especially on fuel seeing as it's non turbo! General servicing done by myself, anything major and I take it to the back street garage - this tends to keep the bills sensible.

  • On the road

    Driving

    5 out of 5 5.0

A really good ride and nice to handle, one of the best cars I've owned.

    Performance

    5 out of 5 5.0

Not very quick off the mark due to being a non-turbo, however once up to full steam it tends to hold its own quite nicely.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Good steady motor, no major problems just the usual wear and tear stuff.

    Image

    3 out of 5 3.0

A bit dated now due to being 9 years old, but thats the last thing on my mind as long as it keeps running okay.

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

Seating is good in the front, but the rear seats are a little austere compared to some models today.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    4 out of 5 4.0

Luckily, I bought an ex-fleet car that was fitted with a good alarm system, however it's proving faulty now due to its age.

    Service

    2 out of 5 2.0

Steered away from Peugeut in general, mainly to keep the costs down.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

Sound as a pound, just on the verge off 200,000 miles and no problems (touch wood)!

    Other

This car has given me some good motoring over the last few years, I've been so impressed by Peugeot that I'll probably upgrade to a 406 diesel.
