Other Peugeot 407 (2004 - 2011) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Practical, stylish; and sad that no British manufacturer makes any cars nowadays. I mean, the damn thing is French !!!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

    Looks good, comfortable, practical.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Well, maybe up the spec a bit; and pray that Peugeot get the bad bits better. Though, on past experience they won't.

What are you likely to buy next?

another 407..does that seem strange ?

  • Buying experience

    3 out of 5 3.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £19,000

When did you buy the car?

    January 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

Had loads of choice, so not too bad.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Tried all the major estates; this had the best all-round spec for me. Speed limiter & roof are the best things about the car.

    What was the dealer like?

Very helpful, and willing to do many things to get the sale sorted

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Great, so much better than my old persons' 406. Slick, good acceleration; love it. You know when you had a 4 speed box, you always went for 5th, and 6th with your 5 speed. Do they do an 7-speed box yet ?! Not that this is a down on performance, far from it. But NOT so hot on the old braking. Take an anchor with you and throw it out in an emergency

    What's it like to park?

Hmm, not so good. Front a bit awkward to tell where it is, but the back bumper is either a nano-millimeter away or in the next county. Next time I'll specify girly-bumpers!

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

I'll say... and that's the most annoying thing about this car. Expensive in the extreme; even with an indepenedent repairer [now]. But maybe at 120K, it's done more than it's fair share of miles ?Fan, clutch, fuel additive, ball joints [2 sets now], brakes, brake switch / cruise control. Inflation sensors and valves [thanks ATS !] Need I go on ?

What's most practical about your car?

Speed limiter without a doubt. Has saved me countless drivibg bans. I may not be a speedy motorist, but you don't have to be these days. The boot is OK, but not the largest; but then if I wanted that I'd have gone for a Mondeo or Passat.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

It's that Speed Limiter, closely followed by the panormaic roof. Why the roof ? I have no idea, I never get to sit in the back ! LMAO but it does give an airy feel to the car.
