• Summary

What does this car say about you?

Sensible, practical and not made of money.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

I've not asked and I don't like the idea that this question is relevant except in what is says about me, my friends/family/ neighbours.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I bought a second Modus in 2010 as Renault advertised a 56 plate with only delivery miles at £6500. Same engine, same economy, just a little shorter. This one is a Privelege with a semi-auto box and is as good as Grand Modus. So the answer is "yes".

What are you likely to buy next?

I expect to keep at least one of these for a few years so my choice will be determined by circumstances at that time.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £12,600

When did you buy the car?

    July 2009

Did you get a good deal and why?

I went to the dealer with print outs of price offers obtained on line. I knew the £2k trade in I would get so it was up to the dealer to match the on line quotes. Two Renault owned garages did. but for reasons I want to a private Renault dealer and paid £300 more.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

The car scappage scheme hastened the decision to change and I wanted a deisel smallish MPV. Good discounts were available as Renault discounted by £2k, so I paid £10600. It could have been less but the cheaper dealer was unprofessional.

    What was the dealer like?

The dealer I used was exemplary.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Light steering at low speeds and a comfortable suspension makes for a relaxing experience. Overtaking on single carriageway roads is rarely possible in metropolitan Kent but there is enough grunt to do so when possible. Motorway driving is fine as are gradients.

    What's it like to park?

Light steering make this task easy assuming you know how to park in the first place. Good visibility and the high driving position help.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Quite low mileage (5k p.a.) but not a single problem.

What's most practical about your car?

Load space is superb for a vehicle of this size and the sliding rear seat very useful. Its cost little to insure and usually delivers 60+ mpg. Access is easy and though not luxury it is comfortable.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The trip computer lets me squeeze out the MPG. No extras were bought..
