What does this car say about you?

Couldn't care less what people think about me or the car. I like it because it is a utility vehicle - it is practical, cheap, useful and actually fun to drive. I care nought for status symbols, badges and "performance" cars so the Kangoo suits me fine.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Family think it is a very practical vehicle. I have no idea what anyone else thinks.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Definitely. It's been a good buy and has proved to be a useful, practical, working family vehicle. Urban fuel consumption is 40mpg and it does 55mpg on the motorway.

What are you likely to buy next?

Another Kangoo of course ! Hopefully one of the last of the original types as I don't like the new one.

    No

    £500

When did you buy the car?

    September 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

Only cost £500 at auction even though it was only 5yrs old. Mileage was 80000 but it had a FSH with all documents present and correct.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Always liked the Kangoo. Great shape, very practical, superb ergonmics. And it was only £500 - ex-Post Office but with FSH.

    It was an auction.

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

Excellent. The ergonomics - driving position is the best I have ever experienced. I was a sales rep. for 30yrs and no company car I had was ever this "right" in terms of driving position. It is good in traffic. The 1.9 diesel has masses of low-down torgue and this makes for easy driving in traffic. It trickles along at tickover and needs little revving to keep up with traffic. On the motorway it gets a bit strained over 70mph but purrs along beautifully at 60mph.

    What's it like to park?

Easy-peasy. All round vision is excellent.

Have you had any problems with the car?

I am a good amateur mechanic and can get parts cheap via the cosmic exchange system. I fitted a new cylinder head, new cam belt, new alternator belt, new discs and pads, new exhaust, new battery, changed the oil and filter, fuel filter, air filter, coolant and get 4 new tyres fitted. I had it valeted and got a 12 months MOT. Total cost was £1000. Plus a couple of favours for free bits and pieces.

What's most practical about your car?

Everything. Superb ergonomics - best driving position of any vehicle I have ever driven. Brilliant views of the road - a good safety feature. Masses of room for 5 people. Best access of any vehicle I have ever driven - superb headroom. Huge amount of luggage space. Sliding doors are ace in tight parking spaces. Passenegers get good views too - the grandchildren love it. Plenty of room under the bonnet for access to all service items. Good ground clearance - handy on rough surfaces and easy at oil change time.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The Renault Kangoo !!! An accessory suitable for anyone's life.
