Economy
Value
Traded it in for a BMW and after 1 year I got 9k trade in. It cost nearly 19k new, but was worthless in the showrooms. Tyres make the diesel optiona very expensive choice.
Costs
Three sets of tyres at 26k on the clock. Each set of 4 is nearly £800. Do not have 17inch tyres.

On the road
Driving
Steering was good when new, but after just one year it became slack and had a tendancy to drift over to the right and wobble at speed on the motorway. Sometimes the steering feels like the wheels are going in different directions.
Performance
Good performance, but after one year the car seems weaker. The clutch seems loose and fells like its slipping. Diesel is a waste of money although a good engine. It cost more and in general to maintain.

Living with it
Reliability
Handsfree card is good idea, but often has a mind of its own. The car leaks into the cabin and this affects electrics. Often the fuses would blow and i would find water in the door pockets.

Nice looking car, but ruined by the cheap supermarkets who sell them in huge bulk which affects re-sale. Megane is known to be poor and the forums on this site are amazingly accurate
Comfort
Well designed front seats especially with leather and heated. After getting out of other competitors cars the megane seems well put together, but let down by heater rattles and plastics creaks.

Good immobilisor and alarm as standard (Thatcham Cat 1)

Ridiculous attitude. Broke my window when mending the outside door mirror and they told me I had to me to wait 2 weeks. I had enough and bought a BMW and now have great service

Engine
Turbo blowing at 26k. Felt like it was trying to stop. Wheel bearing ?

Front right suspension arm came off the support and when reported made me wait for 2 weeks.
