Value
Lots of car for the money. Poverty spec Golf territory buys a generously specced and well put together car.
Costs
Amazing economy. 50-58 mpg depending on driving style. Cheap to buy, insure and run.

Smooth, comfortable and refined, but not remotely entertaining.
Performance
Ridiculously quick for a 1.5 litre diesel. A little laggy at the bottom end perhaps, but responsive, punchy and rarely feels underpowered.

Fabulous seats, good driving position (this takes time to find though) and apart from the odd cheap detail, quality is flawless.
