Rover 400 Saloon 1990-
  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

Full electric kit, 1/2 leather interior, not bad value for money. However I bought the last of the old shape and this didn't have as favourable resale value.

    Costs

    5 out of 5 5.0

Only had to buy tyres and an alternator in 3 years of ownership. I was impressed.

  • On the road

    Driving

    2 out of 5 2.0

Feels like you are driving a waterbed with its wallowy suspension. Oversteer on cornering. Not the best driving experience if you want to go over 30mph.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

2.0 137bhp goes pretty well for a Grandad car.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    3 out of 5 3.0

No problems except when alternator failed.

    Image

    1 out of 5 1.0

You need a flat cap and walking stick to really fit the image of this car. My 10 year old kid even calls it an old man car!

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Driving position comfortable. Could have done with air con due to being black and absorbing heat like mad. Leather seats also dangerous in the sun, give out 3rd degree burns when wearing shorts.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    4 out of 5 4.0

Dont think it is possible to break into whilst holding a zimmer frame. No problems.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

Promised the earth, didn't get sh**.
