  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

I does have an 'old man' image, but the bonus is, I can drive it everywhere at 25 miles an hour and when the person behind starts waving their arms around in frustration, i can just pop the rear sunblind up to get rid of them

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

The usual 'old man' jibes were a plenty..... untill they all had a ride in it. lots of OOOHHH this is nice, and isn't it comfortable

Would you buy this car again and why?

yes, because its british built and designed (even though its german funded)

What are you likely to buy next?

A volvo s40 or s60 cant decide (possible a new mondeo 2008) but depends if Ford are going to start putting engines in their cars that are punchier than vauxhalls!

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

A bit slow, but found a new air filter helped things a little, Mass air flow sensors are made by Bosch and tend to fail around 60k, a replacement is expensive but will improve throttle response. Also BMW have stuck a 'splash guard' over the air intake behind the grill, this does veryy little other than starve the engine of fresh air.

    What's it like to park?

fine, its the first car i've had with parking sensors, but even so its fine to reverse into a space

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Yes Fuel Pumps (it has two) both packed up 6 weeks into ownership, the tank straddles the part of the chassis that looks like a transmission tunnel and a pump circulates diesel between the two sides of the tank and when the in-tank pump fails the underbonnet one struggles and eventually dies

What's most practical about your car?

It goes forwards and back and turns corners too

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Rear Sunblind is novel while stuck in traffic and cruise is also an added bonus
