  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Pretty good value if you haggle for a substantial discount on list price.

    Costs

    5 out of 5 5.0

Engine settling down after 5,000 miles and fuel consumption improving (diesel) all the time.

  • On the road

    Driving

    5 out of 5 5.0

Other than a steering bias (pulls to left), driving is a pleasure, and after a 300 mile drive, no aching back, cruise control excellent. A driver's car.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Good performance due to turbo but turbo can be a bit slow cutting in at times.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Over 5,000 miles, no problems so far. Don't like the 15,000 miles service though, will institute my own oil and filter changes every 6 months. Filters (oil, air, pollen etc) quite easy to do by the competent DIY owner.

    Image

    4 out of 5 4.0

Very favourable comments as to appearance and style from friends who seem to like its looks. (They say it's a pretty car. Male comments by the way).

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

Very comfortable car, even for the back seat passengers. Plenty of room in the boot with a nice low loading platform. Needs a cargo net to stop items rolling about in the large boot space.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    4 out of 5 4.0

Seems to be ok so far, but time will tell.

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

Dealer has been quite helpful regarding initial problems, but a bit offish when having to refer direct to Rover.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

Steering pulling to left from day one. Dealer failed to fully rectify, Rover are dealing with the case and say, "New tyres awaited to cure the problem"?? Should be fitted by 5th August 2004, so will have to wait and see.
