£2.5k for a 7yr old luxobarge... speaks for itself.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not as bad as people think. KV6 is reliable and quite economical. Insurance is cheap!

  • On the road

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

    Fast, comfy but not involving.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

What an engine! It may only put out 175bhp but it sounds lovely. Leaves hot hatches far behind.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

100k miles I did in this and all it needed was new brakes and a new battery.

    Image

    2 out of 5 2.0

Drew some admiring gazes, when you pass an old folk's home…

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

Electrically heated leather armchairs, a climate controlled sitting room.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    5 out of 5 5.0

Its a Rover 800 with alarm and immobiliser, no-one is going to be interested…

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

Forthway were terrible, broke the door linkage twice! Rover sold its parts catalogue to CAT who were rubbish at sending the right part.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

Solid, although I got it with 90k miles and the engine was rebuilt at 70k but I kept it till 180k miles with no problem. It didn't like cold damp starts but a new battery sorted that.

    Other

Door linkage unbelievably weak. Dealer broke it twice doing a service and it snapped with frost...
