  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Wonderfully smooth ride for a car this age. Very little noise from engine while cruising at speed. Struggles a little with hills though, due to weight.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Acceleration is brisk for a car its size. 0-60 is acheived in around 9 seconds. Engine begins to struggle a little after 90mph, but cruises beautifully at 80 (on private roads of course).

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Isn't fased by cold winter mornings like many other cars this age. Starts first time, every time. No problems to report after 126,000 miles.

    Image

    3 out of 5 3.0

Bulky body won't appeal to everyone. Looks considerably more appealing to the eye when fitted with the classic Saab three-spoke alloys.

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

Compared with BMWs and Mercs of the same age, the 9000's interior is more refined. Heated leather seats are a dream on long haul winter journeys. Boot in hatchback is enormous!
