In their own words

For me it was all about the auto gear box. I chose it as the 5 speed manual seemed a bit over geared so I thought the 7 speed auto might be more fun but I never got on with it. In auto mode it was never doing what I wanted when I wanted and in manual mode there were too many gears I was changing continuously. To use a Clarksonism "I respected it enormously but we never became friends." That said if you like auto's you'll love this one. On the plus side it was very practical with loads of storage space. I understand you can now get them with the 1.4TSI engine and the 6 speed manual I would have gone for that had it been available at the time.

How reliable do you find the car?

Just a minor issue with a light on the tail gate. Which bizarrely lead to me changing it as while they were investigating the fault I took the new Leon for a test drive.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Though honest that is probably a harsh assessment I was after a drivers car and it wasn't which was probably my fault rather than the car's I gambled that the auto gearbox would make it more interesting but I never really got on with it. If you like auto's I think you would love it but it just wasn't for me.
