  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

We consider value more important than brand prestige but still appreciate a little style and individuality. It's a bit less 'look at me!' or 'metro-sexual' than a Mini or Fiat 500.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Like it though I think you need to drive one to fully appreciate it's attributes. They think it's cheeky yet unpretentious. I think Alec Issigonis would have liked it..

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, I wouldn't be too disappointed to downsize from my own V6 saloon to a Swift Sport! Being around 6" shorter and 100kg lighter than most rivals makes it feel like a proper 'small car' rather than a 'small family car' that many have grown into. Consequently the short deep boot may be a drawback to some but it's perfect for keeping bags of shopping upright and in place when you want to enjoy the handling! We also considered the Fiat 500 and Mini but great as they both were we found the Fiat a little cramped and the Mini too expensive.

What are you likely to buy next?

Alfa 159, Laguna Coupe or Passatt CC.

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

When did you buy the car?

Did you get a good deal and why?

Excellent deal on an ex demonstrator from Colin Appleyard Suzuki. The value made it hard to justify paying similar money for a 3yr old Mini One.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Surprised how much fun it was to drive, like the appeal of the 'cheeky' styling, well equipped, low running costs and great value.

    What was the dealer like?

Very good - straight talking and honest.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

No GTI but still plenty Fun! Initially I found the steering overly light (though precise) but soon got used to it and I enjoy being able to position the car accurately. The gear change is excellent - short and 'snickety'. I was really surprised how nice and sprightly the car felt on the test and I love driving it. It's certainly quicker than the manufacturers quoted 0-60 time and feels it (Autocar measured 0-60 in 11.5 sec) As with any low capacity N/A petrol engine you do need to use the revs to extract the performance but then again it's significantly cheaper than a TDI supermini with comparable BHP. Reminds me a little of an MG ZR105 I used to drive - or how it would have been if built by Honda now!

    What's it like to park?

Very easy, short with good visibility and the boxy shape makes it easy to position.
