Toyota Avensis Saloon 1997-
  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Getting cheap now and GS upwards have very respectable levels of kit.

    Costs

    5 out of 5 5.0

Cheap insurance and excellent fuel economy. 38mpg in day-to-day driving. Once achieved 55.09mpg on a steady motorway run (I have triple checked the figures & working out for this astonishing result. It seems completely 100% accurate).

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Very comfortable cruiser. Hopeless if you want sporty though. Sadly, I do want sporty so it will be going soon.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Average performance for a car of this size and type. You can dish some out to young lads in puny engined hatchbacks though. They don't like it. Not one bit.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

No problems...not even any worries that problems would arise. Bullet-proof is a cliché but deserved in this case. The Avensis is a very popular choice for taxi drivers and they can't afford to drive an unreliable car.

    Image

    3 out of 5 3.0

Poor image, if I'm honest...but I like it. Kind of like a Japanese 3 series...if you squint a bit.

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

    EXTREMELY comfortable. 'Nuff said.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    5 out of 5 5.0

Alarmed and anonymous. A winning combination, when it comes to security.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

Don't know, it hasn't been near a dealer yet.
