Vauxhall Astra Hatchback (2004 - 2010) 1.4 Club 5d Owner Review

In their own words
Do not buy the 1.4, it's really not suitable for a car of this size/weight. The lack of performance is particularly exacerbated when the air con is on and carrying more than one passenger or luggage. You really have to use all of the revs for it to get a move on, it's fine for urban slow driving though. It revs quite highly on the motorway 65mph+ due to the short gearing but is comfortable and swallows the miles with ease.
Plenty of space inside with the usual not so user friendly Astra H dash layout. I struggle with back pain but despite the basic seats in the club spec i've not had an issue.
Great chassis which is surprisingly fun to drive in a spirited manner, absorbs the bumps and potholes nicely.
I got my car cheap and in almost new condition so I am grateful for that but I would recommend a larger engine to anyone looking at buying an Astra of this vintage. (1.9CDTI if you do a lot of motorway miles)
