• Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Typical teenager, I suppose. Since 70% of my Sixth Form drive Corsas, blends in fairly well.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Friends are happy as I'm the only one who can drive! Family seem content as it's so underpowered, they know I can't crash at high speed!

Would you buy this car again and why?

Sure. As long as I wasn't looking for a car to do motorway miles in, it's a cheap car to buy, run and insure around town and country driving. Had no problems with mine as of yet, but am aware that many are not so reliable, especially at this age. But easy to drive and with little power, makes an excellent first car.

What are you likely to buy next?

Off to Uni for 3 years, during which I will sell the Corsa and not drive. Then, who knows? Newer shape Ford Fiesta seems smart, but Uni loan!

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £1,000

When did you buy the car?

    July 2015

Did you get a good deal and why?

Viewed a few Corsas in the local area (North Norfolk), and felt this was the best compromise of reasonable mileage, brilliant condition, and price.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    What was the dealer like?

Very friendly elderly man, had certainly looked after his car well. Was a deciding factor in buying this car, knowing it had been well kept.

    What's it like to drive?

Living in the country, I drive mainly on back A-roads and in small towns and villages, where it performs brilliantly. Steering is so light (little vague perhaps, on country roads), and cornering is flat and feels stable. Only issue is acceleration, which is quite poor, especially when increasing from 30 to 60 - many cars overtake as I struggle to get up to speed, but it will happily drive at any speed, once reached.

    What's it like to park?

Easy (simple answer). Rear visibility is good, car is small, with wheels right on edge, so judgement of distance is simple. But the best thing is the lightness of the steering when parking. Makes it so easy to reverse into a bay quickly and line up perfectly.

Have you had any problems with the car?

Fingers crossed, nothing so far. Running very smoothly, however, not quite as economical as expected for a small car.

What's most practical about your car?

Surprisingly spacious in front, with me (6'2"), fitting comfortably. Rear seats fine for two adults on short journeys, but try and fit 3, there are usually complaints for legroom.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

There is nothing exceptional about the trim level. Alloys are smart, and steering controls for stereo would be useful if they worked (aftermarket stereo fitted to mine, so not wired up). But trim is functional and has all of the essential kit I need.
