What does this car say about you?

I have no imagination. Fortunately I also run a Mk2 Golf (which is uber cool) and a Rover 420 GSI, which is both quick and comfortable and says that I have a sensible side.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

My family adore it because they don't think I'll crash it. My neighbours like it because it's not noisy. And my friends like it because they can't drive.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No. I have given up on modern cars and am reverting back to anything made pre-1995. The steering is unresponsive, the suspension is lame and the engine is weedy.

What are you likely to buy next?

I'd like to think an XJS V12. However, as you are asking what I am likely to buy next, probably some petrol. Being serious though, something for less than £500 because of my inability to resist a bargain.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £7,500

When did you buy the car?

    September 2004

Did you get a good deal and why?

I got a good deal because they had just replaced the old 1.2 with the awful Twinport model and needed shot of the proper one.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

It was a good deal and I liked it at the time.

    What was the dealer like?

Rubbish. They made us pay for six months tax. Put what may as well have been cardboard number plates on it and gave it to us with a scratch on the roof. When asked to repair this scratch they did so, but not without somehow getting red paint on two of the wheels. Which is still there because they denied all knowledge.

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

    Bland but grippy.

    What's it like to park?

    Easy.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Just a recall on the ABS. It still doesn't work properly.

What's most practical about your car?

Stereo controls on the steering wheel and a three-point seatbelt on the middle back seat is a novelty.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Definitely opt for the tilt adjustable steering wheel, without this it sits too high. Heated door mirrors are nice. And colour coded wheels.
