What does this car say about you?

That you can't be bothered to look for a better car!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Nobody looks twice. It's just a Cavalier after all.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Not a chance. My brother drives the 2.2 litre LS version and he loves it. The car had too many faults to forgive it. I never want to enter a Vauxhall dealership again in my life.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Nissan Primera SE

    May 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes the deal was pretty good price-wise as the same garage had just sold a car to my brother!

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    What was the dealer like?

No pressure, pretty helpful all round.

  • Driving it

    2 out of 5 2.0

    What's it like to drive?

Steering is heavy and the suspension hard. Pretty unpleasant all round. Could never get comfortable in the seats either.

    What's it like to park?

The car's quite long, sometimes parking spaces aren't deep enough for the car!

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Engine management light flicked on and off which was an ECU fault, Vauxhall Charged £160 to replace earth straps which fixed the problem. The car had idling problems (stalling at lights and junctions out of gear/with clutch down!). Apparently a common fault with Vauxhall cars from this era with gunked up idle control valves that require cleaning or replacing.

What's most practical about your car?

Absoloutely massive boot! Very practical all round. Quite good MPG even round the doors. Quite a good engine, used a petrol additive engine cleaner which boosted the HP slightly.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Unfortunatly the air con wasn't working, probably needs a re-charge at this age (about £100 I believe). Would've been handy. Cup holders are useless! Had many hot coffees spilled on my lap when the lights changed to red!!!
