  • Summary

What does this car say about you?

    The car is me... skint!!!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

It is an eyesore and an earsore... but its my vectra with the painted on "140" and "SRi" stickers. Its my Vectra with the cracked front grille. My Vectra with everything wrong with it and has cost me what I paid for it in maintaining it... it's now dying....

Would you buy this car again and why?

All this put together and all the faults and expense... of course I would, its a Vauxhall. My first two cars were mk1 astras.. they were brilliant. The 4th hand Vectra I bought.. it was very nostalgic as Vauxhalls have NEVER changed!!!

What are you likely to buy next?

Unfortunately, I also own a VW PAssat as well which I have had for 7 years. I love my VW's as I have owned VW's for 10 years now. My next car will be a VW Jetta TDi.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £800

When did you buy the car?

    January 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

At the time I thought I had got a good deal. Reliable, not too many faults, above average mileage, all the important stuff worked... thats what I thought anyway....

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I needed a runaround to get back and forth to work which is all dual carriageway.

    What was the dealer like?

    N/A

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Not to bad, all the other faults aside. Smooth gear changes and pleanty of poke left in the engine, despite having 118000 on the clock when I bought it.

    What's it like to park?

Easy. The rear boot spoiler gets in the way, but you know thats the end of the car. Very light steering.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Ok, so I mentioned not too many faults. The drivers window runners snapped after 3 days, the radioator developed a leak, the CV joints failed, the brake hoses failed and the adjustable steering column didn't adjust... there was dog hair all over it and the interior was poorly looked after. The water in the window washers had turned stagnant and the rear wiper didn't like to operate. The exaust has failed with a massive hole in it, the front trailing arms are starting to sieze... the list goes on and on

What's most practical about your car?

The boot space, however, putting my shopping amongst the dog hair just felt wrong.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The drivers centre armrest - good. The CD/radio with steering wheel remote - excellent.
