Summary
What does this car say about you?
I'm a young driver so driving a VW Golf makes people think 'nice car!!!' (especially for a student). Mine is also black with GTI wheels and has chome mirror covers, leather seats, sunroof and a clifford alarm. Visually it is very pleasing.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
My family love it. My friends are envious of it.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes but not with this engine. Perhaps a TDI 110bhp would be better, especially for making progress and building up speed a lot quicker.
What are you likely to buy next?
Audi S3 (but that is some way away yet!)

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£2,600
When did you buy the car?
May 2006
Did you get a good deal and why?
Bought off a friend for a very good price of £2600. Needed quite a bit of work doing to it though but nothing fundamentally mechanical that would have cost hundreds of pounds.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Image, price, insurance, economy
What was the dealer like?
-
Driving it
What's it like to drive?
A little sluggish when trying to build up higher speeds (60mph+) but excellent for town driving.
What's it like to park?
Steering is a little heavy at slower speeds but nothing major.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Sunroof doesn't slide all the way back, it catches the sunroof blind, gets stuck and makes an awful crunching sound. Can't really be bothered paying to get it fixed. Just open the window instead to get some air.
What's most practical about your car?
Seats five in comfort. Also a large boot that accomodates quite a large amount of luggage too. Excellent practical car.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Heated leather seats. One of the previous owners (I'm the sixth) specified this option. All I can say is 'THANK YOU!!!!". They are amazing, especially on a cold winter night driving back home on a long journey at 2am.
