You were conned into thinking german cars are good quality, reliable machines.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They usually think it needs a clean. Who really gives that much thought to someone else's car?! Silly question.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No. too many things have gone wrong. my local garage tells me that VWs keep them nicely busy all year round.
What are you likely to buy next?
Something with a really good warrantee. All modern cars are overcomplicated to the point that things are bound to go wrong. Therefore the thing that matters most is the warrantee. Boring but true.

Equally at home in the city or on the motorway. fine to drive.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Yes. turbocharger went completely on about 70k miles. Needed replacing (quite common on these cars apparently). Attempting to slide the drivers seat backwards or forwards invariably results in the airbag warning light coming on (quite common on these cars apparently). Around 120k miles had a warning light tell me that all the oil had gone from the engine and had to stop immediately. Turned out that the sensor needed replacing (quite common on these cars, apparently) Since about 130k miles the gearbox has been getting temperamental, refusing to get into 1st or reverse, or sometimes getting stuck in 1st (quite common on these cars apparently) At 140k miles ABS sensor on one of the rear wheels needed replacing.
What's most practical about your car?
It's not too big.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Automatic dipping rear view mirror is good.
