  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Not much. Its still a VW Passat even though it is a sport! Great car for a middle aged old git!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Oustanding value for money. Recently went on a walking trip to the lakes and my friend could not get over the fact it was doing nearly 60 to the gallon. Not bad for a 7 year old car with 132K on the clock. Do not be put off by high milege, BUT ensure it has all the service history.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes. Relativly cheap to run. Once out of warranty, go to indipendent VW specialists. It does well over 50 to the gallon and even 40 plus to the gallon driving round town. Great on long journeys.

What are you likely to buy next?

A newer passat or audi A4. However A4 in similar condition is about £1000 more.

Did you get a good deal and why?

Bought private. 116000 miles so cheap, but full VW service history at main dealer. In great condition.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Bought as a second car to replace an old diesel citreon. Wanted something like a golf but the passat is cheaper with better spec.

    What was the dealer like?

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Firm ride with the sports suspension. A lot better on motorways than round town. However still a very good drive. Great for overtaking with pleanty of power in reserve.

    What's it like to park?

Not bad, but rear visibility is limited. would be better with parking sensors. We also have a passat estate which if far easier to park

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Had the front offside CV joint cover split. Cost £70 at an indipendent to fix. Origional battery failed at 129000 miles!

What's most practical about your car?

Large boot and reat leg room is outstanding. I have a 6 foot son who looks lost in the back! Full service at an indipendent is £75 (Indipendent cars in Sheffield very good).

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Too many to mention! Climate is excellent. Rain sensing wipers also work well. Cruise control is hardly used even on motorways. Sound system is excellent
