    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

You can pick up a fully specified ex-demonstrator for just over £30K - at that price, it's simply unbeatable. I'm toying with the idea of upgrading to a W12!

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

VW servicing is cheaper than BMW and Mercedes but I'm waiting to see what it will be like with the Phaeton.

    Driving

    5 out of 5 5.0

Easy to drive for such a large car, and great fun on A roads!

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Simply superb. This car is no feather-weight but the 3 litre engine is really spirited-and quiet. 4 wheel drive, air suspension & adjustable shocks add to the driving experience.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    No problems so far!

Herein lies the problem, and its solution. Those that don't know probably think it's a passat on steroids. Cars actually slow down on the motorway to have a look, because they're so rare. Causes far less antibodies than my Mercedes and the BMW before that

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

The interior and comfort features make an S class or 7 series look pretty naff. Just look at the huge adjustable seats, self-retracting air vents, hidden cabin lighting, extensive wood, 4 zone climate control...
