  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Slightly over priced in it's class, but then you're paying for a decent build quality.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

    Reasonable, but not cheap.

  • On the road

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

Easy to drive, but not very exciting.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Struggles a bit, the 1.4 lacks sparkle.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

Only a couple of problems, emission sensor failure after 21,000 miles and drivers window would not go automatic. Both sorted by dealer.

It's a smart likeable hatch that does what's required of it. I downsized to this car and I'm not disappointed. Not overly keen on the round headlights, but then that's just a personal thing. Will hold it's value well if looked after.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Seats are comfy and supportive, lumbar adjustment would have been nice on the 'S' model.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

It locks and has a flashing red light. Apart from that I'm really not sure how effective it is. Immobiliser should be adequate. Mind you, who's going to nick a VW Polo?

  • Problems and Ownership
