What does this car say about you?

I like good quality goods and take care of them well - it still looks like a brand new car, not 2 and a half years old. I get the mick taken out of me if I tell friends and family off when they are too rough with the seats, slam the door to hard or get muddy shoes all over my seats / carpets! I have style and class also.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like it. They are impressed with the quality and style of it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes as it has served me well...30,000+ miles in only 2 and a half years and still looks great! Having driven my partner's 2.0 litre sportcar now though, I have my sights set on something with a better 0-60 time (although this is sub 10 seconds which was one of the boxes that needed to be ticked when this car was bought, I now want faster than his 7.5 seconds!).

What are you likely to buy next?

I'm looking at a VW Golf GTi / GTD / R spec model - the new one with all the fancy extras to make life easier when driving long distances!

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £14,710

When did you buy the car?

    September 2010

Did you get a good deal and why?

Got OK trade in prices for previous car and motorbike that we traded in. Got a good deal as we sat down to agree the deal, they wanted £500 deposit there and then. We said we'd sign if they paid half and they agreed. Also had £1000 off the higher spec model when it was meant to only be off the lower spec model. Also got servicing thrown in for 3 years.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

To replace a Vauxhall Corsa that was starting to go wrong. Had been contemplating buying a new car so we had three years trouble free motoring and after trying out a lot of different cars, we chose quality and paid slightly more.

    What was the dealer like?

Helpful, a few usual pushy service reps but we chose to deal with a more shy, retiring type as we felt more at ease with him! They worked with us to ensure we got a good deal.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Easy to drive, lovely quality of materials - you know it's worth the money when you get in! Loves overtaking when knocked down a gear or two. Great on long journeys, it gets over 50mpg when driving nicely on long trips. It drives well on the motorway and is quite happy sitting at speed and resting the engine in 6th - no wheezing whatsoever! Speeds up easily when needing to swop lanes. Easy to drive in town, prefers to drive along in 2nd or 3rd around town as 1st won't get you very far fast!

    What's it like to park?

I find it very easy to park. I ALWAYS reverse into parking spaces despite hating doing this when learning to drive. It generally fits into spaces very well due to its small size - I do tend to hunt for a nice space though as I love my car to bits and would hate to return to it and find somebody has scratched all down the side due to being careless.

Have you had any problems with the car?

It has had the engine reprogrammed during a service as a recall if I rememebr correctly - general recall, nothing had gone wrong with my car! It seems to make a weird noise sometimes when it turns on - like its revving a lot more than normal but the garage couldn't find fault when I took it in to be looked at.

What's most practical about your car?

Very good size for the tye of car it is. It fits absolutely LOADS into the boot and back passanger seats when we go camping.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

My turbo on the engine! Love how it's only a 1.2 but feels so much bigger when the turbo kicks in :-).
