Volkswagen Touareg SUV R-Line Tech 3.0 V6 TDI SCR 286PS 4Motion Tiptronic auto 5d Owner Review

I have bought the car as ex-demo with 4000 miles on the clock, it has pretty much all the optional extras added - air suspension, electric tow bar, 4 wheels steering. Having the 3.0 V6 would have thought it would put a dent to the fuel economy, but it's exactly the opposite, this is much more efficient than the 2.2l diesel in my previous Hyundai Santa Fe, returning average 36.5mpg town driving and arrive 42mpg on motorway (Vs 34-36mpg in the Hyundai).
The engine is really quiet as well, had the power and smooth on the motorway. The only complain as another reviewer has said is the turbo lag, it does take a second before anything happens, I also wish there's a software update which address this problem, which I doubt now.
The engine is so quiet (unless under strain like going uphill) that some of my friends mistaken it to be an EV, on the motorway, there is small amount of wind noise, but you can certainly have a decent conversation without shouting to each other.
The Touareg does everything I need and want, with plenty more than expected, really surprised of the fuel economy (full tank is roughly around 620 miles, not bad for such a big heavy car). I would highly recommend this car if you don't mind about the lack of prestige badge on the bonnet.
