Other Audi A3 (2003 - 2013) models:

  • Summary

    1 out of 5 1.0

What does this car say about you?

That you have a sense of humour or like spending money over & over again on poorly designed & engineered products.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They are surprised I've had so many problems with it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Not even if hell froze over. Worst & most unreliable car I've ever owned. My local Audi dealer was one of the first in the country & they have sold all of their VW group held dealerships in the city. I'm just not sure what this says?

What are you likely to buy next?

Anything Japanese probably Subaru again....wouldn't touch anything German especially VW group (Audi / Seat / VW / Skoda).

  • Buying experience

    3 out of 5 3.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £8,000

When did you buy the car?

    September 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

Bought the car with a full and up to date Audi main dealer service history & fully invoiced print out of everything spent & mileage performed. All receipts for service provided.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Perceived German manufacturing excellence. Perceived quality brand.

    What was the dealer like?

So-so. Didn't tell me that modern diesels are no use for mixed driving! Blocks particulate filters up!

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Ok but has plenty of flat spots & judders known via problematic egr system on the bmn engine. Failing tandem pumps also mean judders in power delivery through leaks. When it drives ok refinement & sound levels are really good.....probably its only really good attribute.

    What's it like to park?

Ok but no standard parking sensors.

  • Living with it

    1 out of 5 1.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Loads has gone wrong with it! I just call it a money pit Most people are surprised when I tell them. DMF & clutch £1200; Alloy wheel cracked £520 each; Battery £80; Wheel bearing £250; Injectors replaced under warranty probably about a £2500 job; EGR valve £300; Diesel particulate filter failed at 89K £1500; & now turbo is whistling & due for replacement after being serviced everytime with full synthetic £60 for 5 litres 507.00 vw spec oil! The car is utter junk! Turbo is £1500 part from dealer not fitted.

What's most practical about your car?

Nothing that other cars don't have really.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

    I pod inline connection.
