Other Audi TT (2006 - 2014) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Owners who buy top-spec TT's, from new, are stylish, avant-garde, cutting edge and discerning .... with a lot more disposable income than most people you will meet. Likely to be seen climbing out of it wearing a sharp suit and shirt - but no neck-tie. One-upmanship of the highest order.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Everyone thinks it is stunning and expensive looking. It actually IS stunning and expensive.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No. Been there, done that. Depreciation is monster. The TT is reputed to be a slow depreciator - but, in reality, has lost 55% of its list price in only two and a half years. Time to go for a more luxurious ride.

What are you likely to buy next?

An Audi estate is on its way to me already.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £32,000

When did you buy the car?

    February 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

I haggled like crazy and managed to get more that £5K off the list price. When you buy a brand new car in the middle of a recession - you should be getting a good deal.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I saw the car at an Audi dealership and fell in love with its looks.

    What was the dealer like?

Exemplary. Great showroom. Impeccable sales staff. In keeping with up-market cutting edge image of the Audi brand. They could teach Mercedes a lesson or two.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Sticks to the road like glue. No body roll at all - even in very high-speed bends. Loads of grunt everywhere. Quite fast but not blisteringly quick off the line - but once it gets going, that huge wave of torque is a winner. Point and shoot star. With 19" wheels, front seat passengers moan and groan as they feel every bump and their fillings come loose. Back seat passengers will ask to get out after a couple of miles.

    What's it like to park?

Very easy as it is nice and small. Rear parking sensors work well. Front parking sensors would be a good addition - but they are not on the options list.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Some minor things. Mainly squeaks. The seat belt anchor points squeeked (badly). Took two attempts for the dealer to fix it. The Bose speakers rattled. But that's all really - and dealer fixed all with a smile.

What's most practical about your car?

Running costs are very low for an up-market sports car. Insurance, MPG, servicing and parts are all very reasonable. It's just a VW Golf in pink knickers after all.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The 19" titanium alloy wheels I chose are to die for.
